In the fall of 2017, Creative Lives enters into a significant collaboration with Crossroads Academy, a K-8th grade independent school in Lyme, New Hampshire.
Creative Lives Director Maureen Burford will commence a part-time faculty residency to develop applications of A Framework for Wise Education in middle school music and humanities, and to create a progressed, contemplative education curriculum with the Crossroads staff. Together with Crossroads, we are imagining the results when children learn Framework tools and strategies in kindergarten, as part of their daily lives in school, and develop these skills each year through the 8th grade.
The leadership team for this project includes Head of School Brad Choyt, Middle School Language Arts Educator Steven Glazer, and School Nurse Kathy Barth.
We hold the vision that this collaboration will support a Creative Lives Training Institute in 2018, open to faculty from other educational institutions. As we develop applications of the Framework at Crossroads, we look forward to commencing new partnerships with other public and independent schools in our region and beyond.
About Crossroads Academy:
In September 1991, Crossroads Academy opened its doors–dedicated to the proposition that little people can think big thoughts and have a lot of fun doing it. In its first years as a K-3 day school, Crossroads had 15 students and 5 teachers in the basement of a church. Today, the school’s K-8 program has over 130 students on its beautiful 140-acre campus. Crossroads Academy is a model school with nationally ranked and award-winning students and faculty.
