Even a small investment of your time can change a child’s future for the better. If you have an hour or more to spare---once a week, every other week, or for a one-time visit, we would love to hear from you.

Children First:

Children First is our volunteer mentor and teaching program -- a rewarding way to get involved at CLASP. We have a waiting list of children who would benefit from your time and expertise.

We will work with your schedule and talents to find the right student for you.  All Children First volunteers will attend a training in our philosophy and mission, and be required to submit a background check to the State of Vermont.  GET IN TOUCH

Teaching:

If you are inspired to teach and have experience with children grades k-5, consider bringing your passions to a group of learners. You might a offer one-time workshop, a shorts series, an 8-10 week course, or consider building a program through the year.  Repeated contact with the students and small-group learning afterschool are a winning combination. We are open to a wide variety of enrichment courses from fine arts to science to history, journalism, film-making, yoga and more.

Food For Thought:

Food For Thought  --  Gardening Club
If you have a passion for growing, consider becoming involved in our community garden program, led by Garden Director Karen Ganey.

We have opportunities to mentor students in all things garden related and support the team in creating: a water catchment system, composting system, outdoor sculptures and more. HELP US GROW!

Thanks to the Volunteer Coordination at COVER Home Repair (aka. the wonderful Sarah Blum), we received the generous help from a group of students biking across the country and volunteering in communities along the way. Lots of good work, good conversation, and FUN!

Food For Thought  --  Cooking Club
Healthy cooking is a critical life skill that we build at CLASP--fun and nourishing for all. If you have talents leading children in creative, healthy cooking, Food for Thought is for you.. Soon we will be utilizing foods from our garden in our daily, organic after-school snacks.  In addition, CLASP hosts regular community dinners and includes cooking as one of our afterschool enrichment areas.  GET COOKING!

Community and Natural Adventures:

Community and outdoor adventures help children better imagine the possibilities of their own lives and give them a greater appreciation of the many ways adults are contributing to the health of their community and to the natural world.

Local business owners in every field from farming to computer programming are invited to introduce children to what they do and how they came to be doing it. At our end, we will work to prepare children to in advance with knowledge and experiences that will deepen their experience with you. If this is a first time adventure for you or your company, our staff will have suggestions for how to organize the time we spend together.  TAKE A HIKE!
